I do not remember how exactly it got there; there was once a dead rat in the front pocket of my school bag. A few years before that, there was a live lizard spotted in my shirt pocket. Nowadays I don’t carry any creature living or dead in my pockets (shirts, pants, coats or bags). But in its place are countless other articles. It could be anything from credit card receipts, to expired grocery store coupons, to visiting cards. In fact I had my passport in my coat pocket all of last week, as though it was essential to move from one metro station to another. The irony was none of the three train passes I had earlier collected was in the coat, which was what I needed the most to board the train. Best of them all, I had a to-do list from some day during last year, alas, with some items still open.
Give or take a few, but there are at least eight items absolutely essential for my daily commute to office and back. My apartment keys, access card to my apartment, office, another card to access my office building, train ticket, RSA security token, cell phone and wallet. Things are still manageable until now. Only when I want to do a little bit more than regular office trip does the process get complicated. Time to do groceries and why not get the club card that would give good discounts? Did I tell you about my other cell phone which I carry as well?
Here comes the winter and along with it a few more additions. Gloves and earplugs to keep me warm; there’s a fancy of a cap sometimes. At the fear of all losing all
The bigger challenge is yet to come. Identifying, what is where in each of my pockets.
Just when I thought, I have attained the nirvana stage in the art of managing the pocket contents; I bought a cargo pant last week. It has six pockets on the outside and a secret one as well.
